CLASSICAL ENSEMBLES
Whether you are hosting an intimate gathering, a wedding ceremony, cocktail
hour or a grand reception, nothing can substitute for the elegance of
a string ensemble. Our Bel Canto Ensembles provide full-time, excellent
musicians from the Washington/Baltimore area symphonies, shows and concerts.
They are skilled in performing classical, Broadway show tunes, and
contemporary music and can play as stationary or strolling combinations.
Below are samples of a few of the string combinations offered by the Entertainment
Exchange. To learn more complete a request for a FREE PROMO PACK.
String Quartets
The String Quartet is made up of two violins, one viola and one cello. The
ensemble is a stationary ensemble (as opposed to a strolling group), and provides a rich
string sound. This is ideal for a Wedding in a large venue. The repertoire of
the Quartet is from the Baroque era (1750) selections such as Vivaldi, Handel, Corelli,
through Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and into the Romantic era, with repertoire that includes
Strauss Waltzes and other lighter works
The ensemble also has a selection of works from Broadway shows of the 50's and 60's.
However, the group is not a dance group, but is more for easy listening background
at receptions or events that demand an elegant atmosphere. Note also that a solo
Trumpet may be added to the ensemble for extra character needed in a Wedding ceremony
Classical Trios
This stationary ensemble can be comprised of flute, violin and cello or two violins and
cello. The flute sound is perfect for an outdoor ceremony or reception or for
Baroque and Classical repertoire. By contrast, the all-string ensemble has a more
familiar warm sound. We would recommend the flute, violin and cello trio to the
client who wants a lighter sound and the all-strings trio to the client who wants a lusher
sound. Please note that these trios do have a limited contemporary repertoire.
Most of the Classical Wedding selections played by the Quartet may also be
performed by the trios.
Piano and String Ensembles
This ensemble is our most versatile group. The instrumentation is piano, two
violins and bass. The repertoire ranges from the Classical such as Handel, Mozart,
Pachebel and Vivaldi through more romantic selections such as Viennese Waltzes and Salon
music to timeless songs by Cole Porter, Gershwin and the Broadway tunes of today.
This stationary group can also expand its numbers to match a larger venue and provide a
luxurious string sound. For locations where no piano is available, we can provide an
electronic piano for a modest fee. With its contemporary repertoire, this ensemble
can provide dance selections.
